You want to know what makes me jealous? Talented people. Truly talented people make me jealous. Not rich people. Not popular people. Not people with huge public relations crews to make them look good. Not people who have lucked into success simply based on who they know. Just people who can do something very very difficult very very well.
Musicians, for example. I’ve been jealous of, though very happy for, talented child musicians ever since I was a child myself. The latest one that I’ve come across is this ten year old Edmonton violinist who recently played at Carnegie Hall.
That’s what wakens my green monster. There’s not an ounce of resentment in me, but it does make me ask how the talent and determination genes are handed out before we’re born. Sometimes I do question the process.
In case you feel the same, here’s a picture to make you feel better.
